My artwork looks at representation. Specifically, how lack of representation impacted my identity while growing up as a minority. The growth I've had with my practice was nurtured and developed at OCAD University, where I came into the realization that my work is in a sense a self-portrait. In fact, all art is –to a varying level– a self-portrait of the artist. This helped me define my story and present it with strength and dignity as I was not presenting it as an overarching storyline for viewers to consume, but to connect with me and my story on a personal level.
